New Southeast Branch Library Meeting Wednesday, April 30,
2003
We
would like to help spread the word about an important meeting regarding the new Southeast
Evergreen Branch Library. The relevance of
this issue to parks is that some of the sites being proposed for the new library are
currently parks in the Evergreen Community. If
you have any opinion about whether existing park space should be used for the new library
site, our councilmember strongly encourages you to attend this meeting. Please see the following message from Dave Corteses

Citywide Clean-Up Day Saturday, May 10, 2003
Friends
of Fowler Creek Park plans to participate in the Great American Pick-Up
sponsored by the City of San Jose on Saturday, May 10, 2003. We plan to focus on the area around Fowler Creek
(naturally) along Cortona Drive across from Chaboya Middle School. If youd like to help us, please contact us
at info@fcpfriends.org.
The
following information about this event was sent out by Dave Corteses office:
The Great American Pick-Up is a citywide event for community
members to clean their neighborhoods! Let's use this opportunity to clean up
Evergreen! There will be a free Celebration Lunch for volunteers following the
Pick-up event at 11:30 AM. Come meet other community leaders, earn community service hours
and help clean up Evergreen! Equipment is provided but volunteers are encouraged to
bring their own pick up stick and gloves. All youths under 18 need supervision and
transportation to get to the clean up sites and the luncheon afterwards.
SCHEDULE
Registration (at Ley Va Middle School): 8:30-9am
Clean-Up: 9-11am
Travel to Lunch: 11-11:30am
(Cathedral of Faith Church by Hwy. 87 off of Curtner Ave)
The following are the 10 Litter Hot Spots in the Evergreen Community (we can add more
areas to the list):
1) Welch Park on Huran Dr.
2) East side of King Rd between Chopin and Enesco
3) East side of King Rd between Rigoletto and Enesco
4) North side of Rigoletto Dr and Brahms and Quimby
5) Seven Eleven Shopping Center between Quimby and Sturla
6) Silver Creek HS between Daniel Maloney and Eaglehurst on Silver Creek Rd
7) Brigadoon park between Daniel Maloney and Camperdown on Brigadoon Way
8) East end of Evergreen Park along Yerba Buena to Villa Vista
9) Thompson Creek area from Aborn to Quimby
10) Southside of Aborn from Kettman to White

need to know which individuals or groups that will be participating by Wednesday, May 7th.
