| About Friends |
| Friends of Fowler Creek Park is an independent volunteer community
service organization founded in July 2002 by several Evergreen Hills residents. Our
neighborhood-empowered grassroots organization met with San Jose District 8 Councilmember David Cortese,
who gave us his support from the very early stages for our vision of a community group
that serves and enhances the community by focusing on Fowler Creek Park. Friends is one of the community
groups that is working actively in cooperation with the City of San Jose Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood
Services Department in the planning and development of Fowler Creek Park. One of
our first projects is the development of this public web site that focuses on the history,
master planning, and development of Fowler Creek Park as well as to solicit input from the
general Evergreen Specific Plan community regarding park amenities and other park
development issues and details. After the park has been developed, Friends plans to
continue to serve the park community in the long-term as the guardians and stewards of the
park by working on issues related to the park community, sponsoring community events in
the park, and ensuring that the park continues to serve as an enjoyable and high quality
recreational area for the collective park community.
Friends of Fowler Creek Park is incorporated in the
State of California (corporate seal granted 4/29/03 by the Secretary of State of
California) and is a non-profit public-benefit charitable corporation under Federal Tax
Code Section 501(c)(3) and under State of California Franchise Tax Board Revenue and
Taxation Code 23701d. Federal
tax-exemption was granted 8/27/03 by the Internal Revenue Service. State
tax-exemption was granted 9/25/03 by the State of California Franchise Tax Board. |
